The Potter, the clay and the seeds

God commanded Jeremiah to go to a potter’s house where God would explain His relationship with Israel in the book of Jeremiah 18 v 2-6; “When you get there, I’ll tell you what I have to say. So I went to the potter’s house, and sure enough, the potter was there, working away at his wheel. Whenever the pot the potter was working on turned out badly, as sometimes happens when you are working with clay, the potter would simply start over and use the same clay to make another pot. Then God’s Message came to me: “Can’t I do just as this potter does, people of Israel?” God’s Decree! “Watch this potter. In the same way that this potter works his clay, I work on you, people of Israel”

God is the potter and we are the clay as stated in Isaiah 64 v 8 “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand”. The potter needs to keep water on the vessel to form it, just as God’s word is a living water to us as stated in John 4 v 14 “but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

If we allow God to remove our weaknesses, pains, sorrows, inadequacy, failures, infirmity and shortcomings, then we will be stronger in Him. Our cooperation with God, will enable Him to bring the best out of our lives.

God (The Potter) has good intentions when moulding us (the clay). God’s thought towards us are that of good and not evil according to His word in Jeremiah 29 v 11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”. We are important vessels in God’s Hand; the apostle Paul says God wants to form us into “a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work” 2 Timothy 2:21.

The moulded vessel has to completely dry out for days before it can be fired. The vessel is left to dry; it has not been forgotten by the Potter; being left to dry is part of the process of the making of the vessel. Have you ever felt like you have been forgotten by God? Have you ever felt that God is no longer interested in you? God said in His Word in Deuteronomy 31 v6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you”.

The vessel that has been moulded is fired at 2000 degrees in other to complete its making; trials and tribulations in our lives are there to refine us like gold and if we remain with God, we will come out victoriously.

God made us to present us to our generation, he wants us to serve Him, and He wants us to be His Ambassadors. God has put in every vessel, seeds for their generation; generations are waiting for our manifestations. Romans 8 v 19 “For the earnest expectation of the creature wait for the manifestation of the sons of God”. Our time of manifestation is a time when God unveils us, a time when God makes us visible.

Your generation is not waiting for your excuses but rather your manifestation. God has equipped you and His plan is to make you a showpiece- God’s accomplishment which is worthy of display and admiration.
